ASCENSIO: The Everlasting Temple is a part of a photographic series of works that derive from the ASCENSIO Video Art piece by Liberté Grace, featuring Kate Sherman. The work explores diving into one’s own consciousness to rediscover freedom and space within. During Covid-19, human beings have had to learn how to create freedom in amongst limitations. ASCENSIO, a fictional self, dives into its own consciousness, discovering and accessing its own internal ‘heaven’; meeting its many and infinite potentials of self, until finally, it exists beyond the matrix of time, history, and identity to hear the song of its own enlightenment. This work is a representation of the infinite nature of human consciousness; a celebratory journey into the ‘heaven’ which exists—waiting within oneself, beyond duality and power.
